Birju was a Pakistani stage actor and comedian from Lahore, Punjab. “Birju” was his stage name, while his real name was Saghir Ahmad. He was born in 1968 and He passed away on 26 September 2021 at the age of 53 due to cardiac arrest.[1]

Birju had three brothers and one sister. His sister has a developmental disability.[2]

Birju was married and had a son named Zain.[3]

Career

Birju began his acting career in theatre in 1990. He was a student of the renowned comedian Amanullah. His first Pakistani film was Nikki Jei Haan (1999), directed by Masood Butt.[4]

His song “Ami Nu Bula Bai Ami Nu Bula” became quite popular in Pakistan and within the theatre community. He first performed it during a stage show at the Murree Arts Council in 2004. He was also known for his distinctive entry style-during his stage appearances, he would rapidly repeat his lines, a unique signature that earned him wide praise and recognition.
