Abid Charlie

Abid Charlie is a Pakistani actor and comedian, who belongs to Okara, Punjab, Pakistan. Charlie is his unofficial screen name due to his resemblance to Charlie Chaplin. People in theatre had nicknamed him Abid Charlie due to his striking resemblance to the comedian. He has a son Abubakar.

Career

Before becoming an actor, he was a clerk at the grain market in Ghalla Mandi, Chichawatni. Abid Charlie began his theatre career in 1998 at Okara. He has worked in 2 to 3 Pakistani films. He is also part of the comedy TV show Hoshyarian (2021) on Ary News.

On December 11 2004, Abid Charlie along with 50 stage artists were arrested on the charge of obscenity from Babar Theater Multan. The crackdown was carried out jointly by the teams of district administration and police reportedly on receiving complaints of vulgarity in stage dramas.

Love Story

In early 2000, Abid Charlie went to Multan Theatre for a stage show, where he fell in love with a fellow stage actress. All his colleagues came back, but he stayed there for 2 to 3 years, during which she got ill. So he took care of her and her family’s needs and helped her financially.

She ultimately dumped him and moved to Lahore. Abid also came to Lahore to heal bridges, but she was already with her new partner when he arrived, and Abid and her boyfriend had a fight. Then she moved to Sargodha; Abid followed her, but this time she had him imprisoned and abused by police for 3 days.

After three days of being assaulted by police, his producer from Multan arrived and freed him.
