Abida Baig is a Pakistani television and stage actress from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. She was born in 1966 (age 58 years).[1]
Abida Baig married Mirza Rasheed Akhtar, a theater director and writer. She has both a son and a daughter.Her husband died in 2008 from a heart attack, and her daughter died in 2020.[2]
Career
Abida Baig began her acting career in theater in 1981, when she was 15 years old. After doing 2-3 stage shows, she left and returned to theater in 1991.[3]
Aside from stage dramas, she has appeared in two PTV television series: Doosra Aasman (1993) and Ainak Wala Jin (1993).[4]
Financial struggles
Abida Baig Daughter Death: In 2020, Abida Baig’s daughter died due to not being able to afford stents needed for heart surgery, highlighting the financial difficulties Abida Baig and her family faced despite her long career.[5]
More recently, reports from 2023–2025 noted that although she has spent decades performing, Abida Baig later spoke about living modestly and even appealing for support, including public requests for financial assistance for medical and living needs. She mentioned she’s been part of the industry for around 40 years and now finds it tough without solid financial backing.[6]
